THE PLAYBOYS

The Playboys were essentially a continuation of The Rolling Stones. They were the resident band at what was then the 'new' Tofts club, Folkestone for a long spell where they played as many as five or six nights a week and supported numerous visiting artistes including John Mayall’s Bluesbreakers (the Clapton/Green/Taylor period), Ike & Tina Turner, Georgie Fame, Geno Washington, Alan Price etc.

Original line-up 1962 - Dave English - lead vocals, Mick Morris - lead guitar & vocals, Bob Hopkins - bass guitar & vocals, Pete Inwood - rhythm guitar & vocals, Brian Scotcher - drums

During 1963 Bob Hopkins announced his intention to leave to go to university. Pete Inwood agreed to take over on bass and Brian ‘Jake’ Aitken (rhythm guitar & piano) joined to replace him. For a short while until Bob’s departure the Playboys became a six-piece.

Second line-up 1963-1964. Dave English - lead vocals, Mick Morris - lead guitar & vocals, Pete Inwood - bass guitar & vocals, Jake Aitken - rhythm guitar, piano & vocals, Brian Scotcher - drums

Third & Fourth line-ups 1965-66. Dave English - lead vocals (to Aug 66), Mick Morris - lead guitar & vocals, Pete Inwood - bass guitar & vocals, Ronnie Watson - rhythm guitar & vocals (65-66) Keith Adams - rhythm guitar & organ (66), Brian Scotcher - drums (to Jan 66) Roland Langley - drums to Dec 66
