Mick Morris

NEW!

DJANGO REINHARDT FESTIVAL 2009 IMPRESSIONS

Mick’s love affair with the guitar began a long time ago and shows no sign of tailing off. Over the years he has played almost every kind of music from skiffle to modern jazz and just about all shades of rock, blues and country in between. He has been a member of a number of groups and also worked as a teacher, accompanist and session player. On the site you’ll find the stories of all the groups, with lots of old photos of young band members (and a few new photos of old band members!)

Of course, like every guitar player he has his personal guitar heroes and favourite kinds of music but for Mick it’s always been a case of ‘any guitar is better than no guitar’ (well, almost!). In recent years he has also become addicted to playing the banjo. He’s taking things a bit easier (?) these days but is currently playing Irish and country music with ‘Fairisle’ and occasionally fitting in a few jazz gigs and other outings.

In between other things, Mick is currently writing a book about life as a semi-pro musician called, ‘Don’t give up the day job!’. You can find some of the stories from it on the site and if you’re a musician you’ll definitely relate to them! He’s also just released REFLECTIONS, a CD of guitar-based instrumental music and is now writing songs for a new album to be released later this year.

Thanks for visiting. If you find yourself overcome by a sudden desire to offer Mick work, money or advice or just want to say hi, just send him an e-mail via the contact button!
